Fuelled by hunger and the loss of a 10kg bag of Cassava tapioca, locally known as ‘Abacha’, gifted to him when he was an undergraduate, 29-year-old Valentine Okolie had an epiphany. He decided to make rich local delicacies that would stand the test of time. In 2021, he founded Bach and Moen Ltd., a startup that addresses hunger, cultural food shortages, and low GDP. And he started with the famed ‘Abacha’ local delicacy. Valentine is on a quest to increase the export value for local produce delicacies within the country’s agricultural sector, by reducing loss during the production value chain process. Through his startup, he is also determined to make clean, germ-free, Bach ‘Nuudles’ Instant Abacha with local spices, a staple of the Nigerian culinary scene, home and abroad.
